Wearing contact lenses for the first time can be a bit of a challenge. Even though we try to keep things away from our eyes, it's surprisingly easy to put something in. Many of us forget about contact lens hygiene. It's easy to fall into bad habits to save time and money in a busy daily life, but it's important to care for your lenses with the attention they deserve to keep your eyes happy and healthy.
Before using contact lenses, it is very important to wash your hands thoroughly with regular soap. Rinse and dry them with a clean towel to ensure there is no dust, bacteria, or make-up on them. This applies both when you insert and remove the lenses. After use, place the lenses in a clean lens case with lens solution.

The most common symptoms of poor contact lens hygiene are: discomfort, red eyes, and blurred vision. If you experience any of these, it's important to focus on your daily habits and make some changes.
1. Always wash your hands
It's important to ensure that you don't have any contaminants (which is anything you don't want in your eyes) on your hands. Use regular soap to wash them, rinse them, and dry them with a clean towel to ensure there is no dust, bacteria, or make-up on them.
2. Do not use your lenses longer than intended
It might seem like a good way to save money, or you might forget to buy new lenses, but using contact lenses longer than they are intended for can lead to discomfort or dangerous eye infections. Discard monthly lenses after 20 days; two-week lenses after two weeks; and use daily lenses once.
3. Rub your lenses with solution.
Even though there are many 'no-rub' solutions on the market, all contact lenses benefit from a gentle rub.
4. Clean and replace your case. Wash the case regularly and replace it every three months.
